College Republicans Statewide Unite for 9/11 Never Forget Remembrance

Phoenix, AZ – College Republicans across Arizona have united at universities and colleges for a 9/11 Never Forget Remembrance in honor of those who passed away in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and those still fighting for our freedoms bravely across seas.

Andrew Clark, state Chairman of the Arizona Federation of College Republicans stated, “As College Republicans, we have a duty to remember those men and women who have paid the ultimate price of freedom.  We are privileged to lead an effort around the state to ensure that time will never destroy the memory of these patriots.” In order to do this, each college will be displaying American flags representative of every victim lost in the terrorist attacks in a way that is unique to that campus.

Listed below are the times and locations of the memorial gatherings:

Arizona State University Tempe: all day at the Memorial Union there will be a silent remembrance planted around the Memorial Union.

Arizona State University West: 10:00am on ASU West’s Fletcher Lawn with speakers Governor Jan Brewer, Representative Sam Crump, Representative Jim Wiers, Radio host Mike Broomhead, Mike McAvoy, a citizen present in New York at the time of the attacks, and student body President Andrew Clark.

Mesa Community College: Will be accepting donations Tuesday-Thursday 10am-2pm outside the clock tower and the flags will be displayed on 9/11 with a moment of silence on that day at 9:11am. Donation proceeds will go to the Families of Freedom Fund.

Northern Arizona University: 10:30am on the grass field west of the Dubois Center, South of the Business Building with the Flagstaff Mayor Sara Presler-Hoefle as their speaker. At 9:11pm there will be a candlelight vigil in the same area.

Paradise Valley Community College: The planting of the American flags will start on September 10th and be taken down September 14th. Speakers scheduled for September 11, from 3-5pm in the courtyard are: Representative Sam Crump, Jim Deakin, Dr. Paul Dale and Debra Brimhall Pearson.

University of Arizona: 6:30-8:00pm at Clements Park (8155 Poincianna) with speakers Hon. Frank Antenori, Gen. Robert Johnson, Lt. Col Scott Campbell, and Sgt. Robert Shirley with music to honor.

“From the pine trees of Flagstaff to the Sonora of Tucson and throughout the valley, the College Republicans will proudly stand beside flags and fellow patriots.  We thank the Governor and many other politicians who stand besides us in this sacred cause,” Clark stated.

About Arizona Federation of College Republicans: We are an organization leading the next generation of conservative minds, thinkers and leaders across the state.

Pull the Plug on Obamacare!

In an attempt to derail the Obama administration’s takeover of the health care industry, organizers have dubbed the first day back to work for Congress on Tuesday September 8th as “National Pull the Plug Day.”

In recognition of the fact that a government takeover of the health care industry will signify the death of even more of our free will, one more of our freedoms and liberties, the organizers are encouraging every American to wear something black. One of the principle organizers, Bill Diedering, wants everyone to understand that “this is not a fashion statement, it’s a political statement.”

The idea sprung up from a small group of friends having a casual conversation over dinner one night in mid-August. The group was frustrated that they don’t feel they are being heard by their elected officials. “Our president, who is the most accomplished community organizer to ever sit in the Oval Office would be very proud of us,” deadpanned Diedering.

Co-organizer, Randy Hunt, says, “We are calling on all concerned citizens to join with us and show Washington that this nation still belongs to the people. Our elected officials need to understand that we are aware of their systematic elimination of our personal liberties.”

Diedering says, “It remains to be seen how successful Pull the Plug Day will be, but we are very optimistic. Never underestimate the power of social networking, especially when you have a good message.” This small group of citizens is relying on the Internet to spread the word.

The website, www.pulltheplugonobamacare.org includes a series of videos that the group feels show the true motivation of those who are pushing a government-controlled health care system.

The organizers’ website received thousands of hits and countless messages of encouragement shortly after its activation. They believe there are millions of Americans who can’t attend a town hall meeting but want to find a way to get the attention of their elected officials. “If everyone tells their friends, and they tell their friends, we can really make ourselves heard,” Diedering says.
